Haman Karn - The Tragic Story
I really loved this character because of her brazen personality, but now that I rewatched the classic Gundam UC I can see how devilishy fascist this girl is.
I'd still like to make her regular costume (as I made the battle one) because I love her design.
When Kuranosuke was selected to go to Eurocosplay in 2015, in MCM Comic Con London, I cried, I was so proud, finally I'd be recognized as a cosplayer and BECOME A JUDGE. Did not happen, I only judged about 10 years later. Anyway, I wanted to make a costume that was challenging and used a lot of different sewing and prop making techniques. This was NOT a success and my costume paled compared to the other contestants. As soon as I dressed up, I never felt so ashamed. I was cold and was drunk, because there was free beer to everyone, and I put all my faith in my skit.
Unfortunately, that faith was injustified because I got the very last place, with 50/150 points. I remember perfectly trying to find my name at the scoring list and suddenly finding myself at the bottom.... I cried SO MUCH ༼ ༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ༽

To make this costume was extremely challenging at the time, because my sewing machine rejected the fabric I picked. Yet, it was my first time doing princess seams, body fitting pants, dying a wig and doing armour.

At the time I had just started a new job, where I had my very first professional mental burnout. I quit that job also so I could work on my costume, because at a certain moment I was really in a panic, and made the very stupid decision to include this information in the Build Book, so the judges would pity me.

THEY DIDN'T!!!!11!

It was a very troublesome costume, with pleather and worbla armour. At this time, making armour with *just* foam was unknown, and Build Books had only been introduced one year earlier. It was very challenging and the judges still asked me "is this your first build? Are you a beginner?" I was really sad and demotivated at this.

I had also constructed a life-sized dummy doll, which I called "Mr. Brown" (inspired by Bob Marley's song), which was absolutely ditched by the judges because he did not have a face (only a supermarket plastic bag covering it). Mr Brown went on to have a relaxing life, and nowadays he's famous, he even met the Mayor. But at the time I could never hate an object more than I hated Mr Brown. I blamed him for my failure, even though he was just a dummy. I just had worked so hard on my costume, I could not understand why it was not considered at the same level as the other contestants.

Here are some pictures of my costume. It was NOT THAT BAD, but it was kind of bad. Judge for yourselves

But the skit?
I really wanted to bring out the best of myself with the performance. "I'm good at performing, so I will have the top score in this area!" WRONG AGAIN!

I had decided to go for a comical skit, and picked a song I was sure the whole audience would love: The Galaxy Song, by Monty Python. Unfortunately, by the 10s everyone in the UK had forgotten the Meaning of Life and the Flying Circus. To my horror, some lonely half dozen people scattered through the audience were clapping. Nobody laughed. Nobody clapped. Nobody said anything. I tried to make my skit for the SIX people that were clapping, they were my special guests. But it was a real demotivation factor.

When I got to backstage, I got immense praise by a group that did the pre-show, they were Italian, Gundam fans and MP fans. Thank you so much guys, I forgot your names with the time, but you were the only thing that made me feel alive that night.

The skit, which I thought I had, disappeared in the time space continuum.

Anyway, here are some cool pictures I took at MCM!
Everyone was really looking amazing, I took a lot of pics with my compact camera. Here are some!

MCM Expo was an amazing experience, I really enjoyed all aspects of it. Except, ofc, getting such a low place at the competition. I really wanted to visit foreign cons again, but so far it has not happened. Let's see if after all this time we can change it!
Eurocosplay is a competition that does not exist anymore, yet at the time it was one of the most important ones in the international circuit. So yes, I have been selected to represent Poortugal in a foreign country, and yes, I failed hard at it. It was complicated, as I found some people that I considered close saying horrible things about my performance, my costume and my face. It was a BIG effort to make all this and to compete, I made many mistakes. But give me another chance, I'm grown now.
